Vintage WWII Era "Sukajan" Souvenir Jacket — Silk, Size Large
Vintage WWII Era "Sukajan" Souvenir Jacket — Silk, Size Large
A genuine WWII-era sukajan — a silk souvenir jacket brought back by American servicemen from Japan, one of the most collectible categories of American military memorabilia. These were custom-made by Japanese craftsmen in the late 1940s and early 1950s and hand-embroidered with imagery specific to the soldier who commissioned them: dragons, tigers, geishas, maps, eagles. No two are alike. This example is in remarkable condition for its age — the embroidery is intact and vivid, the silk base is sound. A museum-quality piece. Size Large. One of a kind and irreplaceable.
